Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
