Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
